From early childhood to secondary school, technical training, and access to higher education, Andiamo supports children and young people to grow in knowledge, confidence, and opportunity. Our education work is designed to make learning more accessible, more inclusive, and more connected to real life.
Education is one of the core pillars of Andiamo Youth Cooperative Trust. In a context where many children and young people still face barriers to quality learning, we work to create practical and inclusive pathways that begin in early childhood and continue through adolescence and early adulthood.
Our approach combines access, care, mentoring, and progression. We do not look at schooling as a single step, but as a journey that should help each learner move forward with stronger foundations, wider choices, and greater dignity.

Our Schools and Programs
Early Childhood Education
Andiamo runs Early Childhood Education Centres that give young children a safe and stimulating place to learn, play, and grow. These centres help build school readiness during the most important years of child development, especially for children in Balaka who might otherwise have very limited access to early learning opportunities.
Our centres combine care, early learning, and a supportive environment close to the community. By bringing education closer to children in both town and rural areas, they help create a stronger foundation for later learning.
Secondary Education
Andiamo Secondary School supports adolescents to continue their studies in a structured and supportive environment. The programme aims not only to help students succeed academically, but also to strengthen critical thinking, discipline, leadership, and confidence.
Financial barriers remain a major obstacle for many families, so bursaries and mentoring are an important part of this work. Current partnerships support vulnerable students, including girls receiving full scholarships and mentoring to help them remain in school and plan for the future.

Andiamo Technical College
Andiamo Technical College equips young people with practical skills that can lead to employment, self-employment, and greater independence. Existing training includes areas such as carpentry, mechanics, tailoring, and ICT, with plans to further expand according to local opportunities and labour market needs.
This part of the education pathway is especially important for students who want a direct route into livelihoods and work. It connects learning with hands-on experience and helps make education relevant to everyday economic realities in Balaka

Andiamo also supports students who are ready to move beyond secondary school. Through university scholarships and the development of the Pathway Centre, the Trust is working to help young people access further education, career guidance, life skills, and new opportunities for transition into tertiary study, work, or enterprise.
