ABOUT

History and Background

Andiamo Youth Cooperative Trust is a Malawian non-governmental organization based in Balaka District. For over 45 years, we have worked to expand access to education, healthcare, social inclusion, sports, and culture, supporting children, youth, and families through an integrated and community-rooted model.

With the support of Orizzonte Malawi Onlus and many valued partners, Andiamo has grown from a grassroots initiative into a structured local organization working every day to strengthen dignity, opportunity, and resilience in Balaka.

Over the years, Andiamo has built:

We believe that real change must be community-driven. Our work is guided by the belief that development should be rooted in local knowledge, supported by partnerships, and aimed at long-term sustainability. Our integrated approach recognizes that access to education, health, and opportunity must go hand in hand.

Education: Early childhood education centres, secondary school, and technical college

Social Development: Caring the most vulnerable with Tigawane Project for vulnerable children and vulnerable elderly

Healthcare: Anciamo community Hospital and 2 rural health centres

Sports and Culture:: Events for community engagement and sensitization

Our longstanding partnership with Orizzonte Malawi Onlus, our Italian sister organization, has played a crucial role in our growth, supporting our mission through fundraising, awareness campaigns, and technical cooperation.

We are also proud to collaborate with several national and international partners who are vital to our daily work, including the Segal Family Foundation, Be That Girl Foundation, CHAM (Christian Health Association of Malawi), and Zero Più – Medicina per lo Sviluppo.

Alongside these, we are grateful for the continued support of many individual donors, associations, and friends who believe in our vision and walk with us to build a better future, together.
