Volunteers Meet Andiamo Executive Team

On Friday, 14th November 2008, a number of volunteers had a roundtable with Andiamo Youth Cooperative Trust’s members of the executive team. A number of issues were discussed and several recommendations and commendations were made.

The meeting started by a briefing, presented by the Executive Director, Andrew Galeta, on how Andiamo’s administration organizes its resources and how it handles expenditures. He stipulated that all this is possible by team spirit that is displayed among the six most prominent offices, such as the offices of the Executive Director, Deputy Executive Director, Financial Coordinator, Projects Cordiantor, Human Resources Coordinator, Public Relations Coordinator, as these help to coordinate Andiamo’s activities.

The Project’s Coordinator, Mark Njoloma, presented a report on various projects of Andiamo. He stated that certain projects are in progress while others were already completed with others yet to take shape. He also disclosed that upon seeing commendable job by Andiamo Youth Cooperative Trust, other non-Andiamo constituents gave construction projects to Andiamo, a thing that will help Andiamo to get some income. Thus Andiamo is helping build social facilities such as schools for Kankao Catholic Parish, a health facility at Utale I Catholic Parish, and it is constructing a fortified steel roof at a CCAP church in Zomba.

Mai Anna Cappelli, a volunteer, commended Andiamo Youth cooperative Trust for its commendable job and praised the incumbent executive for brevity and dedication. She however reminded all members present that the projects initiated by volunteers shall, one day, have to be fully controlled and managed by the locals themselves. She cited Paulo Woyera nursery school as an example. The same was pronounced by Mr. Augustino Trussard who exemplified Chikondi Nursery school as an asset to be fully incorporated into Andiamo’s plans.

In his remarks, the Executive Director, Mr. Andrew Galeta, thanked all volunteers for their help that come in form of funds and materials as these help assist a lot of people, over 700, the Trust employees. He encouraged them to still invest and have trust in the new management of Andiamo.

The meeting was closed and is going to continue on another date soon.
