Tiyende School prepares for next semester
Tiyende is the Andiamo Education
Institution that train young women in Home Management skill to enable
them to be independent in the society. It also empowers them to
recognize their rights and the role they have to play in the country
at large.
As the Institution is expecting
to start another academic semester next year, it could not remain
idol and let its resources and man power to become unproductive
as such. In such circumstance, Tiyende is doing a lot of activities
to improve its status. The Institution has ventured into a massive
production and selling of juices made from locally available materials
(Malambe and M’bwemba). Not only these, but there are also
some desired items from Crocheting and knitting sections. These
are short trouser (for children under 10), dresses, cushions, small
bags among others. The only problem they are facing is lack of raw
materials for more products. They wanted also to be making cakes
if the materials were available.
It does not only rely on indoor
activities hence it has maize and cabbage gardens. They are expecting
to harvest the cabbage in two weeks time where as maize field have
to wait until early December.
At the Institution, there are many
activities that are supposed to be carried out and all these can
not be managed by the teaching staff only. They work as a team in
order to ensure that the work is done in a quick manner of which
is composed of six teachers with Mrs. Useni as Principal, two gate
men, two watchmen, two garden men, four cooks and two tailors.
The Institution has started investing
its money obtained from products sales at Andiamo Campus main Office.
This is the great achievement that the Institution can smile at
as Mrs. Useni put it. But they could not fold have because they
have achieved something, but Institution has dreams of learning
how to work with decorated pieces of clothes using paints of they
are sure to get that skill from Madalitso Ziwawo (Cooperative Artist)
who is currently in Italy for further training. They also would
also love if one of their teachers would have gone at MACOHA for
additional skills in wood activities.
Tiyende
School graduates about fifty students each year.
