ANDIAMO MOURN THE DEATH
OF ETHEL MUTHARIKA
4th June 2007
Since we learned of the untimely
death of the First Lady, Her Excellency Madame Ethel Mutharika,
it has been hard for us to console ourselves for the loss of a dear
friend and a great human being like her, the Mother of the Nation.
This made it difficult for us until now to share our condolences
and feelings to the President and the people of the republic of
Malawi.
For the years Andiamo Youth Cooperative
Trust has known and worked with President Bingu wa Mutharika, the
first lady has always been generous, very understanding, full of
life, engaging and deeply human. We appreciate all these and we
made her as much as Mr. President, our Andiamo family friend and
colleague. Her bright mind and great heart that saw the start of
Ethel Mutharika foundation meant to assist the needy are a shining
example of what humanity is about and also inline with the andiamo
objectives.
Much as the nation is mourning her death, andiamo trust is crying
out loud as it has lost a supermodel to its activities.
Andiamo trust would like to share the grief and sorrow of her family
and express to them that many of us will miss her as the Mother
of the Nation and the Parental row she had towards moulding and
counseling young people.
Much as we have lost her when we
needed her the most, we just have to look to God who is our comforter
as we continue to pray during this devastating time.
May the Soul of Her Excellency, Madame Ethel Mutharika, Rest in
Eternal Peace
AMEN!!
Madame Ethel Mutharika breathed
last on the afternoon of 28th May 2007 after a two year battle with
Cancer. Malawians have been taking turns to pay their last respect
as her body lay in State; in Lilongwe at the State House, Mzuzu
at the State Lodge and Blantyre at the Sanjika Palace till 8th June
2007. She will be laid to rest at Ndata Farm in Thyolo District
on Saturday 9th June 2007. The nation will mourn the fallen mother
for a period of one month.
Techpole.
