Hope Trophy For Real
Mercy!
Mercy! Mercy! It was a shout that was healed at Andiamo Youth Cooperative
football ground as Mercy Pumani was proving the point that Athletics
is not a game for boys only but girls can also do likewise.
Saturday
morning of 28th June, 2008 that hosted the sporting event, was another
sporting day for Andiamo Education Institution. The event was categorized
into two: Tiyeni Tisewere group which had its activities in the
morning and Interschool Athletics Championship in the afternoon.
The games that were conducted were 400m and 800m races.
The
victors were Sileni Meki and Charles Gowelo on 400m races where
as Mercy Pumani and Upile Mustafa were victors on 800m races. This
was just the end of the beginning.
In
the afternoon it was now Andiamo Education Institution in conjunction
with other Institutions namely; St. Charles Lwanga, St.Louis and
Mohale P.V.T Academy secondary schools competing in the Hope Trophy.
There were many people who came to witness the event.
Despite
the games that were played in the morning, there was Long jump,
Short put and 1.5km race for girls and 3km race for boys. It was
a wonderful participation from all the Institution as they want
to take a lead in the Trophy.
All
in all, Mohale P.V.T Academy took a lead in 1.5km race by Delia
Chaomba and Davie Kambalame in 100m race. From St.Charles Lwanga,
it was Felix Mbano who scoop first price in Long jump (boys). Andiamo
carried the day in the following fields: Long jump-Fungai Tembo,
Short put- Ruth Kandeya and Chikondi Sibu, 100m race- Monica Biga
(girls). The most upcoming Athlete at Andiamo by the name of Charles
Maliro merged victorious on 3km race who also scoop the first price
during the last sporting Saturday of 17th May, 2008 in the same
trade.
Andiamo
Education Institution was crowned victorious on that day as they
had 148 points in total from all the games played. The Andiamo Founding
trustee Fr. Mario presented the Trophy to Mr. Chagoma; Andiamo Technical
Principal.
Victorious
participants were greatly honored by gold medals where as all other
participants were given T-shirts, notebooks and pens as Andiamotrust
is argued on fighting for brighter future for the Youths at their
tender age. These events are scheduled to help the Youths to come
together and make a bond on fighting against HIV/AIDS through sporting
activities. The Trophy was organized by Aldo in conjunction with
the Andiamo Education Institution (A.E.I) coordinator, Alessandro.
