Andiamo Education Institutions in Partnership with Malawi’s TEVET

In the efforts to improve education standards at Andiamo Youth Cooperative Trust, the latter, through its education arm the Andiamo Education Institutions (AEI) is, at the end of November, going to sign a Memorandum of Understanding with TEVET, a body that provides entrepreneurship skills to young students in Malawi’s technical colleges. The development comes amid splendid academic management reformation at Andiamo, a thing that has attracted the intervention of TEVET. The MoU is on Skills Development Initiative (SDI) and TEVET Induction Training Programs (TIP).

The signing of the Memorandum of Understanding is quite beneficial to Andiamo Education Institutions in that students will get training and acquaint themselves with skills provided by TEVET. Furthermore, students will, upon completion, get desired jobs without much difficulty as the organization (TEVET) will give internship opportunities to deserving students.

According to Andiamo Technical School principal, Mr. Raymond Caghoma, TEVET intends to offer support in the form of bursaries to at least 15 students from each trade i.e. Motor Vehicle Mechanics, Carpentry and Joinery, as well as Electrical Installation. Thus, the qualified students to obtain bursaries will benefit from the internships thereby gaining exposure to different organizations and companies.

Meanwhile, a group of representatives from A.E.I. are set to attend a workshop in Mangochi organized by TEVET, starting on 17th to 21st November this year. The representatives Ms. Rose Ussein (Tiyende Women in Development Principal), Mr. Luwisho Kalambo, and Mr. Rodrick Khauya (both instructors at the Technical School) are going to learn Competence Based Education Training (CBET) delivering skills. The skills, upon acquisition, are, thus, aimed to be incorporated at Andiamo tertiary education schools.
