Charles Sineta explains tour 2008 to Italy and Australia

Following their astounding concerts in the cities of Rome and Cologne, Malawi's ultimate and legendary Alleluyah Band will next month perform again in Italy before their Australian tour in July.
The band's co-ordinator Charles Sinetre disclosed this to Nyasa Times but said next month's trip to Italy came as a surprise since the initial plan was to travel to Australia.
"There is a trip in July going to Australia, where we shall be performing in Sydney, but this Italian trip, which is scheduled for next month just came in unexpectedly," said Sinetre.
"We have our friends from Italy who came into the country to wed. The last time we went to Rome we had wonderful performances and because of that, this couple chose to tie the
knot in Malawi so that we could be playing our traditional songs during their wedding.
"So after the wedding on 25th March, they told us that we would be travelling with them to Rome where we would be performing again. We are expected to stay in Italy for a period of one month under the auspices of this couple," he revealed.
Sinetre explained that in Australia Alleluyah Band shall be playing during the World Youth Day for Catholics, which, according to him, they have been participating in since 2000.
"This is not the first time our group will be performing during the occasion because we have been taking part since 2000, when we went to Rome. In 2005 we went to Cologne in Germany and this time we shall be joining our friends in Sydney," he said.
Sinetre said his band feels the bell is ringing and it was high time African music, especially Malawian music, were better exposed on the international arena.
Responding to why Alleluyah Band is not releasing fresh music albums, the co-ordinator said in the meantime the group is working on a music video project, which was filmed the last time they were in Rome.
"It may seem that we are silent but the thing is we are not. Now we are working on a project that we recorded last September in Italy. Anyway, the music we played there is still the same old songs we released in the past.
"However we met these other Italian guys who came in and said they wanted to shoot a video for us, and because that project is still on, though the belief is that we shall be getting the product soon, it feels we can't jump to a new project, we have to wait until this project is done," explained Sinetre.
