DISTANT ADOPTION PROJECT
HELPING THE ORPHANS
This project
of helping the orphans was established by Fr. Gamba at St. Louis
Montfort parish after seeing that there were many orphans because
of AIDS epidemic. This project started in 1992. Many children had
no proper care. Some of these children learn bad behaviours because
there is nobody to take care of them.This group started with 10
children. Gradually, the number increased to 1,500. All these children
come from St. Louis Montfort parish. This group goes to meet these
children in the five centres of the parish once a month.
ASSISTANCE OF THE CHILDREN
These orphans receive different things which are helpful for their
mutual upbuilding.
HUMANITY
They receive clothes and beddings
They receive food such as:- maize, biscuits, sweets etc
They receive money to help them for their daily need
They receive many entertaining things such as:- bicycles, idols
and toys etc
INTELLECTUAL
LIFE
These people learn from St. Monica nursery school. and they receive
lunch. This is so to make sure that these children should eat a
balanced diet food for good health but also they should not have
time to think of their orphanage.
Grown ups are helped with money for school fees and those who are
old enough are taught skilled work at Andiamo Campus. They do this
so that they should be self-reliant.
For the time being, the project is under Fr. P. Gamba in corraboration
with Bro. Maurizio, Mrs. Ethel Banda and the Home Based Care.
These young ones are selected from their villages by volunteers
and catechists.
